UkrNIIElectroterm and Thermo-Engineering design and manufacture modern secondary metallurgy units – ladle- furnaces (LF) with the capacity of 6 to 50 tons.
In general, steel processing in the ladle can be carried out in the following steps: homogenization of metal temperature and chemical composition, correction of the steel chemical composition by using of appropriate additives, removing of harmful impurities (sulfur, hydrogen, nitrogen and sometimes carbon , etc.), bringing of the metal temperature to the regulated value, steel refining by non-metallic inclusions removal, production of steel with constant properties from tap to tap, control of the slag composition, etc.
LF are equipped with such systems:
- System for the measurement of the metal level in the ladle, slag and metal temperature, oxygen activity and sampling of metal and slag;
- System for the gas mode control during argon blowing of the metal through the bottom plug or through the top (emergency) lance;
- Mechanism (arm) for feeding and vertical movement of the emergency lance;
- Submersible removable refractory lances for argon blowing of the metal or powdery material supply in a stream of argon; container for the lances installation;
- Controller-positioner of blowing lances (the device that allows to turn a container with lances to a certain angle for taking the lance and installing it using the lifting, turning and lowering mechanism);
- Pinch roll for automatic feeding of metal and flux-cored wires into the melt;
- Water-cooled charging chute connected by the inclined charging chute with the conveyor of the bin trestle, and with the system for weighing and feeding into the bucket of lump slag-forming, deoxidizing and alloying materials.
