UkrNIIElectroterm & Thermo-Engineering develop projects of EAF plants, electro-slag remelting plants, plants for the industrial wastes recycling, plants for the ferroalloys production on the basis of non-ferrous and rare metals, secondary metallurgy sites, continuous casting sites, etc.
Our institute has the experience in the development of feasibility studies, the design of new plants and reconstruction of existing plants, as well as industrial sites of EAF shops:
1. Charge preparation sites with the installation of:
- crushing facility with a site of the charge drying;
- automated systems of the dosed supply of the bulk materials and ferroalloys ;
- flux handling routes to the feed bin ;
- weighing and metering systems, etc.
2. Melting sites with the installation of:
- AC and DC electric arc furnaces;
- furnace transformers ;
- steel teeming ladle cars and slag cars;
- overhead cranes ;
- systems of the emissions from nondefined places capture, cleaning and removal of gas- dust-air mixtures , etc.
3. Sites of the repair and maintenance of the bottoms and roofs of arc furnaces.
4. Slag processing sites.
Modern steelmaking electric arc furnace is equipped with:
- furnace transformer with the capacity of 0.7-1.0 MVA per 1 ton of the electric furnace capacity;
- eccentric bottom or siphon tapping of liquid metal into the ladle ;
- water cooled panels in the walls and the roof ;
- gas-oxygen burners;
- manipulator for the oxygen introduction with consumable tubes ;
- manipulator for the carbonaceous material injecting into the oxygen stream;
- mechanisms for the high-speed electrodes movement, roof lifting and slew, furnace tilting, which work with non-flammable liquids for hydraulic cylinders ;
- unit for the top material charging through the opening in the roof;
- pipe in the roof for the exhaust gases removing;
- devices for the temperature measurement and sampling ;
- computer systems for the technological and energy modes management.
During the development of construction documents for the design of new and reconstruction of existing plants we consider the following aspects :
